The Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Center is involved in commendable conservation efforts and saving precious species of aquatic plants and animals. Its efforts in protecting the sea turtles of the Pacific Coast have been recognized the world over. This area of British Columbia earlier had large number of sea turtles called the Leatherback turtles, but the fishermen and sailing boats have reduced their numbers so much that these are now on the endangered list.

Another conservation series near and dear to the heart of the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre is the salmon conservation program. The center works to track salmon and schools of salmon to ensure the fish are able to make their famous trek upstream to spawn. Additionally, the center works to protect different species of salmon from over fishing and works to educate the public on these great fish and their epic journey.
