Eating Fish Reduces the Incidence of Colon Polyps
When I looked into what events in March to write about this year, I couldn't help but wonder how so many “awareness” events had ended up on our calendars! Among the many this month are: Registered Dietician Day, Women's History Month, National Nutrition Month, Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, National Doctor's Day, National Reading Day and my favorite - National Goof Off Day – We all need a break! (Oh yes, we do!) |

That's too many! What should Boomer women know about prevention? |

Ahh, Spring! Do April showers really bring May flowers? This Baby Boomer hopes so!
It's that time of year again when we begin to see our daffodils and tulips, and that makes us want to open the windows and let the fresh clean air in and the stale winter air out of our homes. We enjoy getting outside to smell the flowers. Most of us |

Baby Boomers Are Setting A New Paradigm For Aging Well
There is a ton of propaganda on the web, and in print and TV advertisements on treatments available for diseases and the aches and pains associated with the aging process. They haven't learned yet that we Baby Boomers aren't interested because we've decided we don't intend to age at all! Well not very much, anyway. We want to keep our vitality and good health until we leave the planet. |

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
As I sit here on this lovely fall day with all my windows open, a warm breeze blowing in, I'm reflecting on all there is to be grateful for in my life. Is Valentine's Day One Of The Causes Of Heart Disease
February is American Heart Month. Once again the shops are filled with boxes of milk chocolates shaped like hearts, the bakeries have red velvet cakes shaped like hearts in the windows, and restaurants are advertising special Valentine dinners that include red cheesecake deserts. I'm struck once again by the dichotomy of this month. |
How To Improve Your Golf Game
As I drove past the golf course the other day I found myself wondering how the only green grass in town is always on the course – and WOW! Is it green! The houses all around still have mud and brown lawns, as do I in my yard, but the greens on the course were like Emerald Isles in the middle of a sea of brown. I know that all of you golfers out there are anxious to get back into the “swing” of your favorite season, so this month I'd like to give you a couple of tips that will insure that you have your best season yet, without strain or injury! |
5 Tips To Help Prevent Holiday Weight Gain
December is the one month each year that almost everyone I know gains a few pounds. Holiday cookies are on everyone's desk and at all the water coolers; neighbors send gifts of fruit cakes, snack mix and other delectable delights; and oh, the holiday parties! Family traditions abound during this time of year, like my favorite - my daughter-in-law and I have a cookie baking party each year, and then we share what each of us bakes. It's so much work that we hardly taste any of the little treasures when we're done, but we really enjoy the camaraderie and the glass of wine while we're baking! All of these traditions in one month means extra fat and calories are consumed. |
Baby Boomers – Prevent Those Golf Injuries
August is National Golf Month, so I've put together a few recommendations to help you avoid what some doctors call “Boomeritis,” injuries specific to our Baby Boomer generation. Since golf involves severe twisting of the spine and rotation of the hips and shoulders, it stands to reason that when we don't take the necessary pre-game steps to avoid injury, and keep a daily routine for flexibility up ALL YEAR ROUND, injuries are likely. Now that our kids are grown and on their own, many of us are picking up the sports we loved, and golf seems |
